The system configuration best suited
for initial setup is shown in the
diagram to the right.
Below we will describe how to install
PC6000 software on your computer and
communicate with the Sonde software.
If you have purchased a YSI 610 hand-
held display/logger, refer to the 610
manual which was enclosed with the 610
unit.
Note that the power supply is optional --
the unit may be powered by internal,
user-installed batteries.
Your 6000
UPG is now physically set up for use. Proceed to the next section on software installation.
2.4 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
PC6000 software is provided with the 6000UPG and is found on a disk in the back of this instruction
manual. Use this software with an IBM-compatible PC with at least 256KB of RAM and DOS 3.0
or later. If your system is not IBM-compatible, use any terminal emulation program with your
computer.
Insert the disk into your disk drive. At the C:\ prompt, type the letter of the drive in which the
program disk was inserted followed by a colon, then press
Enter.
Example: A: [Enter]
To install PC6000 software execute the following command from the DOS prompt:
INSTALL <destination>
where destination is the drive and directory in which you want the PC6000 files to be installed.
For example, the command:
INSTALL C:\PC6000 will install the PC6000 software to the C:
drive and \PC6000 directory.
If you are using a two disk drive system, follow the instructions in Section 5.2. After installing the
software, remove the disk from the drive and keep the original disk in a safe place.
