Timbres
The Split or Layer Program is automatically placed in an
unused Timbre. If all Timbres are already in use by the Main
Combination, the selected Program is put into Timbre 16,
replacing whatever was there previously. If this occurs, the
Main Combination may not sound exactly the same.
KARMA Modules
If the Main Combination’s Use KARMA check-box is
enabled, one or more KARMA Modules may already be in
use. The Split Program’s settings are automatically copied
into an unused KARMA Module, if one is available. If all
four KARMA Modules are already in use by the Main
Combination, the Program’s settings are copied into Module
D, replacing whatever was there previously. If this occurs,
the main Combination may not sound exactly the same.
Effects
As long as there are enough insert effect (IFX) slots, the
selected Program’s insert effects (IFX) are copied into the
Combination, and the Program is routed to them. If there are
not enough available IFX slots, the Program’s effects won’t
be copied.
The Combination will continue to use its previously
assigned Master and Total Effects (MFX and TFX). The
Send 1/2 levels of the Layer Program are copied into the
Timbre, but the MFX and TFX themselves are not. This
means that the layer Program may not sound exactly the
same as it would in Program mode.
Split Point and keyboard slopes
Combinations support keyboard slopes, in which sounds
gradually fade in or out over a range of notes.
If the Split Point overlaps with existing keyboard slopes
within the Main Combination, the affected Timbres’ Top
Slope and Bottom Slope values are adjusted to optimal
values as much as possible.
Split Point and KARMA - Timbre Zone Bypass
If the Main Combination’s Use KARMA check-box is
enabled, Quick Split attempts to maintain the original
KARMA’s effect over the Split Point. The affected KARMA
Modules’ Timbre Zone Bypass parameters are set to optimal
values as much as possible; however, the main Combination
may not sound exactly the same as it did originally.
Quick Split example: adding a lead synth to a Combination
Quick Split dialog
Quick Split makes it easy to create common setups, such as
piano for the right hand and bass below for the left, or piano
for the left hand and a lead synth for the right. Let’s walk
through the second example: a piano and lead split.
1. In Combination mode, select a piano sound-for
instance, INT-D 009: WS Layer Key.
For details on how to select a Combination, see “Selecting
Combinations” on page 67.
2. Press the Quick Split button, to the right of the Perf
Meters tab.
The Quick Split dialog box appears (see the “Quick Split
dialog,” above).
