compressed, you need to decompress the
file before you install the application on
your smartphone. You can decompress the
file on your smartphone in File Explorer or
on your computer using a decompression
utility such as WinZip.
The following instructions tell you how to
install basic files onto your smartphone.
Some software uses an installer or wizard
to guide you through the process. For
details, consult the documentation that
came with the software.
Installing third-party applications
When installing third-party applications,
note the following:
Install only apps that are designed for
Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1
Professional. Apps designed for other
versions of Microsoft Windows Mobile
may not be compatible with your
smartphone.
If you can try a free or trial version of
the software before purchasing it, you
can test it first to make sure it works
properly.
NOTE If you encounter a problem with a
third-party application (such as an error
message), contact the applications vendor.

Installing applications from the Internet
You can use Internet Explorer Mobile to
install Windows Mobile apps in the CAB
file format directly from the Internet. For

You can also send the file to yourself as an
email attachment, and then open the
attachment on your smartphone to
automatically decompress the file (see
Opening
attachments).
TIP
If an application does not have a Microsoft
Mobile to Market certificate, you see a
message indicating that the application is
untrusted. If this occurs, you can indicate
whether you want to continue the installation.
