• HP Insight Global Workload Manager (gWLM) software Global Workload Manager improves both workload performance and resource utilization in a shared compute environment. For servers partitioned with nPartitions, virtual partitions, virtual machines, psets, or FSS groups, gWLM can do the following: — — — Monitor each application Determine the CPU resources needed by each application Automatically migrate CPU resources between partitions to where they are needed most.
— — • VMware vSphere 4.0 Technology preview: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V R2 (non-clustered) HP Insight Virtualization Manager software Virtualization Manager provides a graphical framework for visualizing systems and workloads within a virtual server environment. Hierarchical relationships between systems and their current utilization metrics can be seen in a single screen.
New in this release: — — — — — • Support of HP Integrity VM Version 4.1 (in addition to earlier versions of Integrity VM that are still supported). Support for initiating and monitoring the status of virtual machine migration (online and offline). Online virtual machine migration enables moving a running virtual machine, along with its guest operating system (OS) and its applications, to a different VM Host without service interruption.

2 Installation, configuration, and licensing For system requirements and installation instructions on HP ProLiant and non-HP servers running Microsoft Windows, see HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation and Configuration Guide. For system requirements and installation instructions on a CMS running HP-UX, see HP Insight Dynamics - VSE 6.0: Integrity CMS Installation and Configuration Guide. These and other documents for HP Insight Dynamics software can be found at www.hp.com/ go/insightdynamics/docs.
Back up your existing CMS configuration before upgrading the software The upgrade process is not reversible. If, after you begin, you decide not to complete the upgrade to HP Insight Software 6.0, a backup copy of your pre-6.0 environment is required to restore your CMS to the pre-upgrade state. HP recommends making a backup of the environment before upgrading the software. See the HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation and Configuration Guide at www.hp.
NOTE: The Utilization Provider should remain or be installed on Integrity systems (except for SUSE 11, where it is not supported). Installing the Utilization Provider on Integrity systems Although the Insight Dynamics 6.

3 Issues and suggested actions Issues and limitations of this release are listed below, organized by HP Insight Dynamics feature or functional area. The following categories are used: Limitations Limitations of the implemented feature or functional area. Major issues Issues that may significantly affect functionality and usability. Minor issues Issues that may be noticeable but do not have a significant impact on functionality or usability.
Application Discovery Major issues Restart Application Discovery service after installation The Application Discovery service does not start properly after a DVD installation. The service must be restarted once to run with full functionality. Suggested action Restart the service. Application Discovery service may run out of memory on initial start-up On larger scale systems (on a 64-bit CMS), the Application Discovery service may run out of memory and display an out of memory error on initial start-up.
NOTE: For Integrity VMs, data must always be collected prior to a migration. Failure to do so will result in either incorrect data or a gap in data that starts from the time that the last collection occurred before the migration and ends at the time that the VM was migrated. See the HP Insight Capacity Advisor 6.0 Software: User Guide at www.hp.com/go/insightdynamics/ docs for information about showing, and optionally validating, invalid data.
If these limits are exceeded in an infrastructure template, provisioning operations using that template will fail. Suggested action Limit the number of network connections to a logical server group to four for virtual logical servers and 32 for physical logical servers.
NOTE: When NPIV is supported in HP-UX and HP OpenVMS on Integrity blades later in 2010, this limitation will be removed. Suggested action Create a single storage pool entry that combines a boot volume and the data volumes intended to be allocated to a single physical server. You can do this in one of the following ways: • • Pre-provision any number of these composite storage pool entries to enable fully automated allocation of SAN volumes to physical servers.
ERROR com.hp.hpio.sbapi.tasks.CreatePhysicalServerTask.execute - Error personalizing OS with host uuid: 38C77BED-9FAE-4886-8C06-0F536BA46507 com.hp.hpio.sbapi.exception.AresAdapterException: Deployment server did not accept customization data. The log for the connector software that drives Insight Control server deployment, C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\logs\Alc1_0.0.log, shows that the operations that perform the customizations are timing out.
(OO-studio-installation-path-on-CMS\conf\rc_keystore) to the same path on the remote Operations Orchestration Studio system. Request completion delays with large number of concurrent provisioning requests Start logical server requests and operating system deployment requests are processed in first-in-first-out (FIFO) order.
Deselecting a selected network does not invalidate the template in Designer In Insight Orchestration Designer, when an architect unselects a previously selected network in a valid design, the Validation Status does not change from Valid to Warning.
Enabling template access restrictions Insight Orchestration supports template access restrictions on a per user basis. This feature is disabled by default. If you do not modify the properties file, all users will see all templates. Suggested action To enable template access restrictions, edit the \conf\hpio.properties file, and set template.access.restricted = true. After access restrictions are enabled, only users assigned to a template will be able to see and use the template.
For more information about the SPM technology preview, send e-mail to spm_tech_preview@hp.com. Following are specific issues you may encounter if you use features in the technology preview. Considerations for using read-only volumes with SPM When SPM performs volume presentation, it grants Read/Write access to the volume. If you are using read-only volumes, be aware of this limitation and consider the following actions.
Insight Managed System Setup Wizard Limitations Privilege elevation configuration that requires a password by the privilege elevation tool is not supported Insight managed system setup wizard supports privilege elevation only on a CMS that has privilege elevation configured so that no password is required by the privilege elevation tool (such as su and sudo).
Minor issues Insight managed system setup wizard fails to install the version 4.1 HP Integrity VM provider on VM guest systems The Insight managed system setup wizard attempts to install the version 4.1 HP Integrity VM provider on VM guest systems running on an HP Integrity VM host whose version is greater than 4.1. When the VM provider version on a VM guest is lower than the HP Integrity VM version on the host, the managed system setup wizard will try to update the VM provider on the VM guest.
When this apparent error output occurs, the affected iCAP Manager functions fail. In this condition, iCAP Manager can be used only to monitor, and not control, managed nodes configured in this way. Suggested action Configure HP-UX managed nodes so that no extraneous output is generated when the sudo command is executed.
NOTE: The Hyper-V host version is shown in the Platform column in the Available Target Hosts table on the activate or move logical server target screen. The host is a Hyper-V R1 host if the host version begins with 6.0 (for example, 6.0.6001 or 6.0.6002 in Windows 2008 Server – Hyper-V SP1 or Windows 2008 Server – Hyper-V SP2). The host is a Hyper-V R2 host if the host version begins 6.1 (for example, 6.1.7077 in Windows Server 2008 R2).
to view the next screen. Check the "Insert Storage Entry into Pool" checkbox at the top of the screen, and click Save. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Deactivate the logical server if it is currently active, using Tools→Logical Servers→Deactivate.... Use Delete→Delete Logical Server... to delete the logical server. The storage pool entry is not deleted. (You will recreate the logical server in step 5.) Modify the storage pool entry using the Modify→Logical Server Storage Pools... screen.
Major issues Unable to get detailed disk information on Microsoft Hyper-V VM host with a QLogic HBA See “Unable to get detailed disk information on Microsoft Hyper-V VM host with a QLogic HBA” (page 17) for information about downloading the QLogic HBA driver for Windows. Without this driver, logical server management fails to operate correctly on Hyper-V cluster shared volumes and cluster volumes with a QLogic driver.
Storage validation of MSA2000fc SAN array returns error S-SWS does not support the MSA2000fc in Insight Dynamics 6.0. If you attempt to validate a MSA2000fc SAN array, logical server management displays the error “No supported disk arrays available in HP SIM for storage validation.” Suggested action Continue to present volumes from a MSA2000fc SAN array and manually validate the information.
compartment), using the Tools→Logical Servers→Copy... menu selection results in a null pointer exception displayed on the Copy Logical Server screen. Subsequent attempts to copy a logical server by selecting it in the Physical & Virtual or Logical Server perspectives also result in this error. Suggested action If a null pointer exception has been displayed, use the back arrow on your browser to return to the previous screen.
