HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager User Guide (T3680-96089, October 2012)
• Veritas file system (VxFS) is supported. HFS file system is not supported.
• The following resize operations are not supported when using LVM:
Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Groups with mirrored, striped, or contiguous
logical volumes.
◦
◦ Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Group when VG is cluster aware (activated
in shared or exclusive mode).
◦ Extend logical volumes in native LVM Volume Group using PV that is not allocatable
(includes spare PVs and PVs in read-only mode).

When performing a manual extend or shrink, the operation is executed immediately. No policy is created when performing
a manual operation.
2
If the host volume is not part of a volume group, taking it offline involves unmounting it. If the host volume is part of a
volume group, taking it offline involves unmounting it and deactivating the volume group.
3
Policies are supported only for single virtual disk host volumes.
4
Requires installation of the vgmodify tool. This tool is part of the HPUX patch PHCO_35524 for 11.23.
VMFS requirements and considerations
• Only extend is supported with VMFS.
• Support is provided only for host volumes on basic disks on VMFS volumes. Dynamic disks
are not supported.
• Support is provided only for host volumes created on LUNs from the same storage system.
Selecting the proper dynamic capacity policy thresholds
When setting a dynamic policy, the following guidelines apply:
• Use an extend threshold of 75% or greater.
• Use a shrink threshold of 35% or less.
• Use an increment value of approximately 10% of the current host volume size. For example,
if the current size is 50 GB use an increment value of 5 GB.
