About This Document HP Serviceguard for Linux with SUSE 10, SPI and SP2 enables integration with Oracle Cluster File System 2 (OCFS2). This document elaborates on all information that you need to be aware of before integrating OCFS2 with HP Serviceguard for Linux.
1 OCFS2 with HP Serviceguard for Linux Oracle Cluster File System 2 (OCFS2) has been developed to function as an independent cluster. The Cluster Manager, O2CB, primarily focusses on managing cluster membership. While it has its set of advantages, OCFS2 is not designed to manage complex cluster configurations. On the other hand, HP Serviceguard for Linux has a set of advanced capabilities that provides robust support in complex cluster configurations.
On a 64-bit SLES10 SP1 system, run the following command to install the rpm, ocfs2-tools-1.2.3-0.7.x86_64.rpm: # rpm -iUvh ocfs2-tools-1.2.3-0.7.x86_64.rpm 2. Download the SG-OCFS2-package from http://www.software.hp.com. Alternatively, you can search for SGLXCFS on http://www.software.hp.com to access the SG-OCFS2-package file. 3. Install the SG-OCFS2-package that matches the version of the operating system running on the nodes.
2 Features in This Release Following are the features of this release: • • • “Automated Process of Configuring the OCFS2 Cluster” (page 9) “HP Serviceguard for Linux and OCFS2 Co-existence” (page 9) “Administrative Commands for Managing the OCFS2 Cluster” (page 9) Automated Process of Configuring the OCFS2 Cluster In an environment that has HP Serviceguard for Linux already configured, installing and configuring a cluster file system could involve additional configuration steps.

3 Limitations and Workarounds This section describes the limitation that exist with integrating OCFS2 with HP Serviceguard for Linux. Following is the limitation and workaround for this release: • OCFS2 does not support multiple network interconnects for communication. As a workaround, use a Linux Channel Bonded network to configure multiple network interconnects for communication. Serviceguard must be configured to exchange heartbeat only through this channel bonded network interface.
