1 Enhancements Description The HP Insight Dynamics suite is advanced infrastructure management software that allows you to analyze and optimize both physical and virtual resources in the same way. HP Insight Dynamics gives you a powerful toolkit to accelerate complex technology projects and simplify daily operations. It enables you to plan capacity and power continuously, provision infrastructure consistently, and balance across physical and virtual resources.

switch. For example, VM Manager provides graphical views of virtual-to-physical network and storage devices so that you can view I/O data, including resource utilization information. VM Manager obtains information about Integrity VM resources through Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) providers installed on the VM Host. New in this release: — — — — — • Support of HP Integrity VM Version 4.1 (in addition to earlier versions of Integrity VM that are still supported).

2 Installation, configuration, and licensing For system requirements and installation instructions on HP ProLiant and non-HP servers running Microsoft Windows, see HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation and Configuration Guide. For system requirements and installation instructions on a CMS running HP-UX, see HP Insight Dynamics - VSE 6.0: Integrity CMS Installation and Configuration Guide. These and other documents for HP Insight Dynamics software can be found at www.hp.com/ go/insightdynamics/docs.
Back up your existing CMS configuration before upgrading the software The upgrade process is not reversible. If, after you begin, you decide not to complete the upgrade to HP Insight Software 6.0, a backup copy of your pre-6.0 environment is required to restore your CMS to the pre-upgrade state. HP recommends making a backup of the environment before upgrading the software. See the HP Insight Software 6.0 Installation and Configuration Guide at www.hp.
NOTE: The Utilization Provider should remain or be installed on Integrity systems (except for SUSE 11, where it is not supported). Installing the Utilization Provider on Integrity systems Although the Insight Dynamics 6.

3 Issues and suggested actions Issues and limitations of this release are listed below, organized by HP Insight Dynamics feature or functional area. The following categories are used: Limitations Limitations of the implemented feature or functional area. Major issues Issues that may significantly affect functionality and usability. Minor issues Issues that may be noticeable but do not have a significant impact on functionality or usability.
Application Discovery Major issues Restart Application Discovery service after installation The Application Discovery service does not start properly after a DVD installation. The service must be restarted once to run with full functionality. Suggested action Restart the service. Application Discovery service may run out of memory on initial start-up On larger scale systems (on a 64-bit CMS), the Application Discovery service may run out of memory and display an out of memory error on initial start-up.
NOTE: For Integrity VMs, data must always be collected prior to a migration. Failure to do so will result in either incorrect data or a gap in data that starts from the time that the last collection occurred before the migration and ends at the time that the VM was migrated. See the HP Insight Capacity Advisor 6.0 Software: User Guide at www.hp.com/go/insightdynamics/ docs for information about showing, and optionally validating, invalid data.
Manually configure the SAN boot path for ProLiant DL/ML servers before provisioning The job "Deploy ProLiant System Configuration (BL BFS),” contained in the Insight Control Rapid Deployment software job folder deployed using Insight Orchestration, cannot be used to configure ProLiant DL/ML target servers. The job configures ProLiant/Integrity BL target servers. If you attempt to configure ProLiant DL/ML servers using this job, the request will fail.
specifies data disks. You can modify the storage pool entry allocated to the server to add data volumes, and then continue the request. When NPIV is supported on Integrity blades running HP-UX and HP OpenVMS, you will be able to define separate storage pool entries for the boot volume and for the data volumes intended to be allocated to the same physical server.
Suggested action 2 Provide a .NET configuration file for the application that communicates with Insight Control server deployment so that it will not use the system default proxy. Create the file C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\bin\ alc-rdpaccess.config with the following content:
Delete service request leaves "clean-me" logical servers After successfully provisioning an Integrity blade using Ignite-UX, there are manual steps you must perform to allow the disk to be erased during de-provisioning. Erasing the disk is part of a successful de-provisioning (delete request) for an Integrity service. If the disk is not erased, the delete service request may fail and “clean me” logical servers will remain. In that case, a manual clean-up procedure is required.
The Insight Orchestration tool cannot be displayed. Problem: Authorization failed for user dr7he05qdxix. Suggested action Upgrade to the latest Adobe Flash Player, available at http://get.adobe.com/ flashplayer. Then restart the browser, and browse to Systems Insight Manager and the Insight Orchestration console.
Limitations Storage Provisioning Manager technology preview HP Insight Dynamics 6.0 includes a technology preview version of HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM). SPM is an optional tool for managing storage provisioning within the Insight Dynamics software environment. The initial release of SPM supports EVA storage, and is intended as a technology preview for early access use in non-production configurations.
mapping), it may take up to 30 minutes for those changes to be reflected in the SPM storage catalog. Suggested action After making an EVA modification using CommandView, an SPM user must either wait up to 30 minutes before the change is visible to SPM, or manually cause the EVA to release the updated EVA information from its cache.
After the upgrade is complete, the management features selections must be made manually the first time the managed system setup wizard is invoked for each system. After that point, the newly selected features are saved in the database. This limitation applies to the Insight managed system setup wizard on an HP-UX CMS only. Major issues Patch required to register Integrity VM hosts running Integrity VM 4.1 or higher and 11.
When prompted to specify whether you want to Cancel or Kill the task, select Kill and OK. This action will abort auto-calibration of idle/max power and allow the Insight managed system setup wizard to proceed. After the wizard completes, try running the wizard again, or see the Capacity Advisor User Guide for alternative instructions about calibrating idle/max power. If time allows, let the automatically scheduled nightly data collection gather power calibration information for you.
Managing a CMS as a logical server is not supported HP strongly recommends that systems running Central Management Server (CMS) software not be managed as logical servers. This includes the Insight Dynamics CMS, as well as any other CMS managed by the Insight Dynamics CMS. Note that logical server management does not prevent you from managing a CMS as a logical server.
3. 4. 5. 6. Use Delete→Delete Logical Server... to delete the logical server. The storage pool entry is not deleted. (You will recreate the logical server in step 5.) Modify the storage pool entry using the Modify→Logical Server Storage Pools... screen. Select the storage pool entry noted in step 1 and press the Modify button. Change the storage pool entry to add additional ports as needed, and click Save. Use the Create→Logical Server... screens to recreate the logical server.
User-defined portability group cannot have same name as default portability group If you create a user-defined portability group with the same name as a default portability group or another user-defined portability group in your environment, the user-defined group does not appear in the list of available portability groups on the Create Logical Server Identity screen. This prevents you from creating a logical server in the user-defined portability group.
• If you select an ESX 3x host, the reactivation fails (the registration of the new hypervisor succeeds but the virtual machine is not powered on). Reactivating the logical server on an ESX 4x host succeeds after a failed reactivation on an ESX 3x host. If your logical server was first activated on an ESX 4x VM host and specifies local storage: — A copy move and a reactivation result in both ESX 3x and ESX 4x hosts displayed as valid targets. Choose only an ESX 4x target.
If a file-based storage pool entry is already associated with a second logical server, remove it from the logical server by clicking the Remove Storage button on the Storage tab on the Modify→Modify Logical Server... screen. Then create a new file-based storage pool entry using the Modify→Modify Logical Server Storage Pools... screen and associate the new entry with the logical server. To do this, modify the logical server, and click the Insert Pool Entry button on the Storage tab.
