to last five to ten years. One or more coats may
be required annually over existing
Safe-T-Deck® surfaces in high traffic areas and
very damp areas depending on weather and
wear. Inspect your deck annually. Recoat with
Ames® products as needed.
Estimated Coverage
Standard product coverage is one
gallon per 100 sq. ft. per coat.
Rough surfaces may require
additional coating. Most decks
will need two coats. Roof decks
with roof fabric will need four coats to five gallons per
100 sq. ft. total.

Application Tools
Apply Safe-T-Deck with a 3-4 inch wide paint brush or
a paint roller. Depending upon the project
preparation work, Safe-T-Deck may require one of
more or the following:
Read all label instructions before beginning.
Always run a test patch first in an
inconspicuous area to ensure that proper
adhesion and drying occurs and the product
works to your satisfaction. Do not proceed
unless the product works totally to your
satisfaction. Remove all loose paint, dirt, oil
and grease leaving the surface clean and dry.
All major cracks, joints and seams should be
caulked with Ames® Blue Max® Trowel-Grade
coating and filler. Do not use a silicone caulk.
Make sure the surface is as smooth as
possible.
All surfaces with joints, cracks, flashings or
where two unlike surfaces come together will
require seam taping to provide additional
strength and reinforcement. Ames® Peel &
Stick™ adhesive seam tape (PS250, PS450, PS650)
is easy to apply. Simply peel off the backing,
place over the seam, and firmly press into place.
*NOTE: The Peel & Stick™ Seam Tape may show a
slight bump and radiate through coating.
