Description

The Yoshino Cherry is a deciduous, flowering tree that yields a profusion of fragrant, pale pink-white blooms in the spring. It is the tree, along with `Kwanzan' Cherry, in Washington, DC, which makes such a show each spring. The tree's bark exhibits a glossy quality, and its foliage is dark green in the summer and yellow in the fall. Best used as a specimen tree or near the deck or patio for shade, Yoshino Cherry also works nicely along walks or near a water feature. The tree has a medium growth rate and is hardy to minus 05° (USDA Hardiness Zones 5-8). It can reach a height of 20 ft. to 30 ft. and a spread of 10 ft. to 20 ft. For planting, the Yoshino prefers full sun and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. This tree is shipped in a #5 pot with an average height of 2 ft. to 3 ft.
