The following table describes t he labels in t hese screens.
8.4.2 iSCSI Targets Screens
The iSCSI t arget refers t o the storage resource t hat is actually attached to t he iSCSI storage
device. The init iator can m anage t he assigned disk volum e on t he iSCSI t arget over t he I nt ernet as
if it was t he initiator ’s int ernal storage volum e.
iSCSI Ta rget s allows you t o creat e, edit , and delet e an iSCSI t arget and m ap a t arget t o an
existing LUN. Click St ora ge M an age r > iSCSI > iSCSI Targe t s t o show t he following screen.

St ep 1. Set Up LUN Pr opert ies
Nam e Type a LUN nam e in t his field.
Note: Valid characters for the name are 0-9, a-z, and A-Z, and the maximum length is 30
characters. The “-” symbol is allowed as well, but cannot be the first character.
Locat ion Select a volum e t o create the LUN on.
Capacit y Type t he size of t he LUN in t his field.
Allocat ion Mode Select t he m ethod the NAS uses to allocate st orage space t o t he LUN.
Th in pr ovision ing - Allocat e space only when an init iat or writ es dat a to it.
I nstan t a llocat ion - Allocat e the specified disk space t o t he LUN when you create t he
LUN.
Enable Writ e Back Select this opt ion t o increase t he wr ite perform ance. Writ e Back is a feat ure that collects
dat a in t he hard disk’s cache m em ory first and perm anently writ es data into the hard
disk when t he syst em is idle.
Note: It also creates a serious data integrity hazard. Data loss may occur if the NAS
experiences unexpected power loss before it has time to write the cached data to
the hard disk.

Nam e Displays the nam e of the LUN.
Locat ion Displays t he nam e of t he volum e the LUN is located in.
Capacit y Displays t he size of t he LUN.
Allocat ion Mode Displays t he allocation m ethod t he LUN applies.
Writ e Back Displays whether t he Writ e Back feat ure is enabled or disabled.
Back Click Back t o go t o t he previous step.
Apply Click Apply t o save t he set tings.
Cancel Click Ca ncel t o close t he screen without saving any set t ings.
