09 Power-On Hours
(POH)
Low This is how m any hours t he hard drive has been in a power- on st ate. The
raw value lists t he t ot al num ber of hours ( or m inut es, or seconds
depending on t he m anufact urer) .
10 Spin Retry Count Low This is t he t ot al num ber of spin st art retry at tem pts. This is t he num ber of
att em pts to spin up t o fully operat ional speed t he hard drive has m ade
when the first at tem pt did not succeed. An increase in t his value is an
indicator of hard disk m echanical subsystem problem s.
11 Recalibrat ion
Ret r ies
High This is t he num ber of t im es recalibration was request ed w hen the first
att em pt did not succeed. A decr ease in t his value is an indicat or of hard
disk m echanical subsyst em pr oblem s.
12 Device Power
Cycle Count
This is t he num ber of t im es the hard drive has gone t hrough a full power
on and power off.
13 Soft Read Error
Rat e
Low This is t he num ber of uncorr ected read errors t he hard drive has
report ed. I f t his is not zero, back up your data.
190 Airflow
Te m p e r a t u r e
Low This indicates t he t em perat ur e of t he airflow m easured by a West ern
Digit al hard drive.
190 Tem perature
Difference from
100
High This indicat es t he value of 100 - t he t em perature in degr ees Celsius.
Manufact urers can set a m inim um t hreshold t hat cor responds t o a
m axim um t em perat ure.
191 G-sense error
rat e
Low This is t he num ber of m istakes caused by im pact loads.
1 9 2 Pow er - o f f Re t r act
Count
Low This is how m any t im es the heads are loaded off the m edia.
193 Load/ Unload
Cycle
Low This is the num ber of load and unload cycles int o head landing zone
posit ion.
194 Tem perature Low This is t he hard drive’s int ernal t em perat ure.
195 Har dware ECC
Recover ed
High This is t he t im e between ECC ( Error Correct ion Code)- corrected errors.
196 Reallocat ion
Event Count
Low This is the t otal num ber of reallocat ion ( rem ap) operations. The raw value
is t he total att em pts to m ove data from reallocat ed sector s t o a spare
area. Successful and unsuccessful att em pt s are bot h included.
197 Current Pending
Sector Count
Low This is t he num ber of unstable sect ors awaiting reallocation. I f t he sector
is lat er successfully writ ten or read, this value decr eases and reallocation
is not perform ed. Only failed writ e att em pts cause a reallocation, not read
err ors. This can be difficult to test since only direct I / O writes t o t he disk
cause reallocat ions, not cached w r ites.
198 Uncorrectable
Sector Count
Low This is t he num ber of errors reading or writing a sector that were not
correct able. An increase in this value is an indicat or of disk surface
defect s or m echanical subsystem problem s.
199 Ult raDMA CRC
Error Count
Low This is t he num ber of dat a transfer errors t hrough t he int erface cable
according t o t he I CRC ( I nt erface Cyclic Redundancy Check) .
200 Writ e Error Rat e
/ Mult i-Zone
Error Rat e
Low This is t he t otal num ber of errors in writ ing sectors.
201 Soft Read Error
Rat e
Low This is t he num ber of read/ writ e head off- track er r ors. I f the value is not
zero, m ake a backup.
202 Data Address
Mark Errors
Low This is the num ber of data address m ark errors. This could also be a
different , m anufacturer- specific at tribut e.
203 Run Out Cancel Low This is t he num ber of ECC ( Err or Correction Code) error s.
