Application Data
Surface preparation Surfaces should be clean, dry and
free of dust, dirt, chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax,
mildew, wallpaper adhesive, or any contamination that may
interfere with adhesion. If unsure, always wash surface with
an appropriate cleaning solution or solvent. Remove as much
staining material (i.e., grease, mildew, etc.) as possible before
applying primer.
Any existing coatings that are not soundly adhered should
be removed by the best available means, usually sanding
and/or
scraping.
Countersink exposed nailheads and fill all nailholes and
gouges with Zinsser READY PATCH
®
or similar spackling
compound.
Remove loose, dried caulk and recaulk where necessary.
Sand bare wood smooth using medium to fine grit
sandpaper and remove dust.
Destroy existing interior mildew with a mildew-killing
cleaning solution.
Damaged drywall should be repaired prior to priming. Spot
prime areas of torn drywall facing paper or exposed gypsum
core with GARDZ
®
Damaged Drywall Sealer and then skim
coat with drywall mud before priming total area with
FastPrime2.
Application requirements One coat will be sufficient to
prime and seal most surfaces. On very porous substrates a
second coat may be necessary.
Priming Use to prime new or previously painted
interior drywall, cured plaster, cement, poured concrete
and stucco; concrete block; wood/metal doors, windows,
cabinetry, and trim; aluminum and galvanized metal; rigid
plastics; glossy laminates, and other paintable interior
surfaces. Spot prime only if topcoat is high hiding flat
paint; otherwise, prime the entire surface. Seal knots and
sap streaks with B-I-N
®
Primer-Sealer. Prime uncoated
ferrous metals with Bulls Eye 1-2-3
Primer Sealer.
Sealing - Use to seal new drywall, plaster, concrete and
concrete block, stucco, joint compound, and other porous
surfaces.
Stain-killing - One coat will effectively block stains -
including crayon, marker and ink, graffiti, pencil - and
prevent them from bleeding into the topcoat paint. Water
stains, stains from water-based markers and smoke stains
should be spot primed with B-I-N
Primer/Sealer.
Nicotine stains should be primed with Cover-Stain.
Always allow primer to dry thoroughly before applying
topcoat.
Application Methods Shake or stir well before using.
Apply with a quality brush and/or roller or airless sprayer (.015
to .017 tip @ 2000 to 2500 PSI). If thinning is necessary add
no more than 10 fl. oz clean water per gallon and apply a
second coat. Keep container closed when not in use.
