Setting the MIDI Thru
Parameter
With the initial default settings (MIDI Select = USB,
MIDI Thru = MIDI → USB), MIDI messages
received via the MIDI IN connector of the KX will be
transmitted through the USB TO HOST connector
(USB MIDI Port 1). As necessary, you can change
the MIDI Thru setting so that MIDI messages
received via the MIDI IN connector can be
transmitted through the MIDI OUT connector, or the
MIDI messages received via the USB TO HOST
connector (USB MIDI Port 1) can be transmitted
through the MIDI OUT connector.
1.
Press the [UTILITY] button.
The LED lamp above the button lights and the
Utility display appears.
2.
Use the SELECT [▲] and [▼] buttons to call
up the “MIDI Thru” parameter.
3.
Use the DATA [DEC] and [INC] buttons to
select the desired setting (from the available
ones described below).
4.
After selecting, press the [EXIT] button to
return to the Top display.
Off
When this is selected, the MIDI Thru
function is not available.
MIDI → MIDI
When this is selected, MIDI messages
received via the MIDI IN connector will
be transmitted through the MIDI OUT
connector. This setting is available
even when the MIDI Select parameter
is set to “USB.”
MIDI → USB
When this is selected, MIDI messages
received via the MIDI IN connector will
be transmitted through the USB TO
HOST connector (USB MIDI Port 1).
USB → MIDI
When this is selected, MIDI messages
of USB MIDI Port 1 received via the
USB TO HOST connector will be
transmitted through the MIDI OUT
connector.
NOTE
“MIDI → USB” and “USB → MIDI” can be
selected only when the MIDI Select
parameter is set to “USB” (page 37).
NOTE
Keep in mind that the KX cannot be used as
a MIDI interface for the computer and
another MIDI device. Although MIDI
messages are transferred from the computer
to the MIDI device when the MIDI Thru
parameter is set to “USB→MIDI” and vice
versa when the MIDI Thru parameter is set
to “MIDI→USB,” two-way communication
between the computer and the MIDI device
are not possible.
