• Checking the fail-safe relay
1. Check:
• solenoid relay for continuity
Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the ter-
minals.
Check for continuity between terminals
and of the solenoid relay.
Tester positive probe → Terminal
Tester negative probe → Terminal
Tester reading is “ ”. → Replace the fail-
safe relay.
• Check for continuity between terminals
and of the solenoid relay.
Tester positive probe → Terminal
Tester negative probe → Terminal
Tester reading is “ ”. → Replace the fail-
safe relay.
• Connect the positive battery terminal to ter-
minal and the negative battery terminal
to terminal , and then check for continuity
between terminals and of the sole-
noid relay.
Tester positive probe → Terminal
Tester negative probe → Terminal
Tester reading is “ ”. → Replace the fail-
safe relay.
CAUTION:
When connecting the solenoid relay and
battery terminals, be careful not to short-
circuit the positive and negative battery ter-
minals.
