TROUBLESHOOTING
Refer to the chart below when this unit does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed
below or if the instruction below does not help, set this unit to standby mode, disconnect the power cord, and contact the
nearest authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center.
General
Problem
This unit fails to turn
on when STANDBY/
ON (or SYSTEM
POWER) is pressed,
or enters in standby
mode soon after the
power has been
turned on.
No sound.
The sound suddenly
goes off.
Cause
The power cord is not connected or the
plug is not completely inserted.
The protection circuitry has been
activated.
This unit has been exposed to a strong
external electric shock (such as lightning
and strong static electricity).
Incorrect input or output cable connec-
tions.
No appropriate input source is selected.
The speaker connections are not secure.
The main speakers have not been selected
properly.
The volume is turned down.
The sound is muted.
Digital signals which this unit cannot
reproduce are being received from a
source component e.g.; a CD-ROM.
The protection circuit has been activated
because of a short circuit, etc.
The sleep timer has turned the unit off.
The sound is muted.
Remedy
Connect the power cord firmly.
Make sure all speaker wire connections on this unit
and on all speakers are secure and that the wire for
each connection is not touching anything other than
its respective connection.
Set this unit in standby mode, disconnect the power
cord, plug it back in after 30 seconds, then use it
normally.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.
Select an appropriate input source with INPUT l /
h or 6CH INPUT (or the input selector buttons).
Secure the connections.
Press and set SPEAKERS ON/OFF to ON, and select
the proper main speakers with SPEAKERS A/B.
Turn up the volume.
Press MUTE or any operation buttons on the unit to
cancel mute and adjust the volume.
Play a source whose signals this unit can reproduce.
Check the speaker wires are not touching each other
and then turn the unit back on.
Turn on the power, and play the source again.
Press MUTE or any operation buttons on the unit to
cancel a mute and adjust the volume.
