FTM-10R Operating Manual
Before sending a message, you must change the setting of top panel’s keys ([TOPT],
[TOPS], and [F] keys) to enable the selection of the transmit message.
1. Press and hold the [SELECT] key for one second to activate the Menu (SET) mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Menu Item “F42 TOP KEY.”
3. Press the [X] key to enable selection of this Menu Item.
4. Rotate the DIAL knob to set this Menu Item to “FNC+MSG” or “MSG” (thus
enabling the selection of the transmit message by the top panel’s keys).
5. Press the [SELECT] key momentarily to save the new setting and exit to normal
operation.
To send a message:
1. Press the top panel’s [TOPT] or [TOPS] key to select the message you wish to
send.
2. Press the top panel’s [F] key, transmit the selected message on the CLUB channel
frequency.
Receiving a Messages
1. To receive the message, press the front panel’s [BANDS] or [BANDT] key to recall
the CLUB channel.
2. When receive the message, scroll the [“Message” from “sending station’s ID”] on the
display.
3. Press and hold the [F] key for one second to clear the received message, and wait a
new message.
Inter Connection Feature (WIRES
TM
)
The FTM-10R can be used to access a “node” (repeater or base station) which is tied into
the Vertex Standard WIRES
TM
(Wide-Coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement
System) network. Details may be found at the WIRES-II Web site:
http://www.vxstd.com/en/wiresinfo-en/. This feature may also be used to access other
systems, as described below.
SRG (“Sister Radio Group”) mode
1. Press and hold the [SELECT] key for one second to activate the Menu (SET) mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Menu Item “F50 WIRES.”
3. Press the [X] key to enable selection of this Menu Item.
