SPARKLE DRIVE MOD
User’s
Manual
The original Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive pedal featured a unique “clean” blend
control allowing it to do richly detailed tones previously unheard of in a single
stompbox. Restoring the attack and feel which is lost in a highly compressed
overdrive circuit, the concept is the same as layering two amps, one clean and
the other saturated. With the Clean control turned all the way down, you get
vintage 808 overdrive tones. All the way up, it’s a 100% clean boost using a
studio grade opamp for crisp and super transparent sound without added noise.
Sparkle Drive MOD delivers all the overdrive tones and features of the original
Sparkle Drive, and more. Using the MOD knob, you can select the vintage 808-
based circuit, or instantly pick from 3 different custom modifications. Whether you
need more gain, tighter bass response, a more vocal midrange, or a thick and
juicy lead tone, Sparkle Drive MOD gives you the tools to get there.
Each pedal is hand built in the USA using high-grade precision parts, and
features true bypass switching via a high reliability gold-contact relay.
Operation
1. Gain: This sets the gain level for the overdrive sound only. It has no effect on
the “clean” signal. Use low settings to warm up and compress your tone. Turn it
up for additional sustain and saturation.
2. Tone: Turn it up for a brighter sound, down for darker. It is for the overdrive
only and has no effect on the “clean” signal.
3. Clean: This blends the boosted clean signal with the overdrive. All the way
down is overdrive only. All the way up is clean only. In between is a blend of both
clean and overdrive.
4. Volume: This sets the output level. Set as desired! Plenty of juice is available
to overdrive your tube amp.
5. MOD Knob:
• VINTAGE: This selection give you the classic 808 tube-style midrange grind
that’s great for blues or for boosting your solos.
1-LEAD: The lead circuit has extra gain, a thick and juicy bottom end, and
smooth highs that are perfect for single-note melodies.
2-RHYTHM: This punchy “mid cut” rhythm tone is great for chunky rock power
chords and funk.
