Important Size and Installation
Appropriate Placement
The linear drain gives you the ability to slope the shower floor in simply one or two
direction, you can uselarge format tiles limiting the amount of grout line to save you
time and money. If you are planning a popularcurbless shower ,it is important to place
the drain either along the opening to the shower or the wall directlyopposite the
opening.
1. Installation along the wall.
Choose the drain with best suit size to span the entire length of the wall as far
aspossible. The strip tile between the drain and wall must be sloped towards the linear
drain to ensure proper drainage.
2. Installation at the entrance.
The drain should run exactly wall-to-wall to prevent any water from getting around
the drain and out into the bathroom.Do not install tile-in type drains for this
placement.Recommend Installing Wire Grate for ADA compliance.
3. Installation in the center
Choose the drain with best suit size to reach both sides of the wall as far as
possible. This placement usually done when replacing a traditional center
drain, because there is no need to move waste plumbing.
DO NOT DO THIS
In cases of curbless (no-threshold) showers, if you placing the linear drain
perpendicular to the door, the slope shower floor will create a lip and a trip hazard.
A building inspector will red-flag that.
Recommend instllation (Sheet-type waterproofing)
