Use and Care Manual

MAILBOX USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Your mailbox or mailbox accessory will require maintenance to keep its appearance and to extend its
useful life. Follow manufacturer assembly and installation instructions for your specific product to
ensure warranty coverage and proper use of your product. Failure to follow instruction will void
warranty. The frequency and amount of maintenance are dependent upon the type of weather
elements your product is exposed to, the type of finish on your product, and the type of material
your product is constructed from. If your product begins to look dirty or weathered, clean the
surface by gently rinsing and removing build up with mild soap and water.
General Care and Maintenance:
Plastic Mailbox:
PRO-DF Mailboxes and accessories made from ABS plastic are low maintenance products. Clean
surfaces with mild soap and water to remove dirt and build up.
Cast Aluminum Mailbox with Powder coated Paint:
PRO-DF mailboxes are protected by powder coat paint. Even for rustproof cast aluminum
construction a minimum amount of maintenance is required if you want your mailbox to look like
new for a long period of time. Clean product with mild soap and water to remove dirt and build up.
Protect the Exposed Surfaces With Wax: Apply a light coating of high-grade non-abrasive car wax,
repeat every 6 months. Use a brand that contains a UV blocker or UV inhibitors. Do not use
compound-type waxes for this purpose. This type of wax contains abrasives that can harm the
powder coating.
Steel Mailbox with Powder coated Paint:
PRO-DF steel mailboxes are made of rust-resistant galvanized steel with powder coat paint. Like any
outdoor product made of steel, surface rust may appear over time depending on its placement or
environmental conditions. Protect the Exposed Surfaces With Wax: To prevent surface rust we
recommend coating your mailbox with a high-quality car wax and your mailbox will retain its finish
for a longer period, repeat every 6 months (Refer to cast aluminum care above for wax
recommendations). Wipe any surface rust with an ultra-fine wool pad and clean with a damp cloth.
If necessary, touch up paint may be required for exposed steel. Addition of paints or finishes is not
warranted.
Stainless Steel Mailbox:
PRO-DF Mailboxes and accessories made from 304 stainless steel are rustproof products. Simply
clean surfaces with mild soap and water to remove dirt and build up. Dry with a microfibre cloth and
clean again with a Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish.
