Instructions / Assembly

1. Determine if it will be easier to assemble your
bin where it will be installed. While it may be easier
to assemble in a workshop, you will need to make
allowances for moving it to the location you will leave
the bin. For this reason, some may prefer to assemble
closer to where the bin will be. You may also choose
to assemble the bin right on your concrete pad or solid
base (recommended for best bear resistance). If
that is the case, it is a little easier to secure the base
before assembly. To mount the base, remove the round
access covers with Robertson screwdriver, install your
lag bolts where the built in mount holes are (it may
be easier to “mark” the location for drilling, and then
move the base to the side for drilling) then close the
covers to the base of the TuffBoxx.
2. Install the two
side panels, ensuring
that the shock mount
is to the front of the
bin. Insert the tabs of
one of the side panels
into the corresponding slots on
one side of the base. Ensuring
that the tabs are fully engaged
(if not fully in place, the tabs or
side panel could distort), gently
lift the side panel until vertical.
There is a built in catch that
should hold the panel in place.
After the first side is in place, install the other side the
same way.
3. Similar to side panels,
place the tabs of the Rear
Panel into the slots at
the rear of the base (the
rear of the base is where
the oval chain holes are
located in the sides of the
base.) Ensuring that the
tabs are fully engaged,
gently lift the rear panel
vertical so that the larger
tabs on each end of the rear panel
engage with the slots cut into the
upright corners of the side panels.
Once the Rear Panel is engaged
with the sides on each end, place a
1/4” x 5/8” carriage bolt (from the
outside) into the square holes half
way up the side panels. Place a
nut and washer on each bolt, but do not tighten yet.
4. Install the Front Panel in
the same way as the Rear
Panel. Insert the remaining
two 1/4” x 5/8” carriage
bolts, and put on the washers
and nuts.
5. Install the four
corner brackets
on each of the top
corners of the bin.
Using four 1/4” x
3/4” carriage bolts
per corner bracket,
insert the bolts one at a time. The carriage bolts are
inserted from the outside of the corner brackets, with
the bolts going through the corner bracket and into the
corresponding holes on each top corner of the bin.
*Note, if you have purchased the optional Bear Guard corner brackets,
these are installed here instead. There are separate installation
instructions that came with the Bear Guard corners brackets.
6. Tighten all 20 of the carriage bolts snuggly. The
main box is now complete.
7. Place the Lid into position
and let it rest onto the top of the
bin. Make sure the the Lid hinge
brackets are inside of the Rear
Panel hinge brackets.
8. Install the hinge bolts. To
do this it is important to install
one hinge bolt at a time. There are a couple of steps
for each hinge bolt: a) place a 5/16” nylon washer
on each side of the lid hinge brackets, between each
flange of the Rear Panel hinge
bracket. b) place a 5/16”
washer on the 5/16” x 3
1/2” bolt, and slide the bolt
through hinge bracket holes,
ensuring the nylon washers
stay in place. c) Put another
5/16” washer over the bolt,
and put a 5/16” NyLock nut
on. Repeat installing the remaining bolts for the other
hinge brackets. Tighten the nuts so they are just snug
enough, so the hinge brackets don’t “clamp” together.
9. Gently lift the Lid open
until it sits against the stops
on the hinge brackets. Take
a Gas Shock and attach it to
the attachment on the inside
of one of the Side Panel
mounts, by pressing the end
with the thicker Gas Shock
body. It should snap on to
the attachment fairly easily. Once the lower end is
installed, extend the gas shock rod out most of the way
with your hands. Carefully close the lid until the shock
attachment on the lid lines up with rod end of the
shock and snap the shock in place the same way.
10. Install the 2nd Gas Shock the same way.
11. Your TuffBoxx
should now be
assembled! If
you have ordered
the optional Flag
Notification(s) or
Snap Clip catches, the
installation instructions
for each of those items
are included with them.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Congratulations on your new
TuffBoxx purchase! Below is a list
of instructions on how to assemble
your new Bruin, Grizzly, or Kodiak
model bin. These TuffBoxx containers
should be fairly simple to assemble
for one person if you follow our
instructions, but if someone is
available to help you, we recommend
using the extra help as the TuffBoxx
panels are a little bit heavy, so it will
be even easier with two people.

It will require just a few basic
tools to assemble your TuffBoxx,
primarily a 7/16” socket, a
1/2” socket, 1/2” wrench or
adjustable wrench, and a #2
Robertson screwdriver. With
the sockets used with a ratchet
or cordless drill (easiest). If you
only have standard wrenches or
an adjustable wrench, the bin can
still be assembled, but will take a
little longer to tighten the nuts.
