1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Removethedustcapfromcasterandtighten
thelocknut(Figure69).
4.Tightenthelocknutuntilthespringwashersare
at,andthenbackoffa1/4turntoproperlyset
thepreloadonthebearings(Figure69).

washersareinstalledcorrectlyasshownin
Figure69.

UsingtheClutchShim
Somelatermodelyearunitshavebeenbuiltwith
clutchesthatcontainabrakeshim.Whentheclutch
brakehasworntothepointwheretheclutchnolonger
engagesconsistently,youcanremovetheshimto
extendtheclutchlife.
