MaximizeCuttingEfciency
Forbestmowingandmaximumaircirculation,operate
theengineatthefastthrottleposition.Airisrequired
tothoroughlycutgrassclippings,sodonotsetthe
heightofcutsolowastototallysurroundthemower
inuncutgrass.Alwaystrytohave1sideofthemower
freefromuncutgrass,whichallowsairtobedrawn
intothemower.
CuttingaLawnfortheFirstTime
Cutthegrassslightlylongerthannormaltoensurethe
cuttingheightofthemowerdoesnotscalpanyuneven
ground.However,thecuttingheightusedinthepast
isgenerallythebesttouse.Whencuttinggrass
longerthan15cm(6inches)tall,youmaywanttocut
thelawntwicetoensureanacceptablequalityofcut.
CutaThirdoftheGrassBlade
Itisbesttocutonlyabout1/3ofthegrassblade.
Cuttingmorethanthatisnotrecommendedunless
grassissparse,oritislatefallwhengrassgrows
moreslowly.
AlternatetheMowingDirection
Alternatethemowingdirectiontokeepthegrass
standingstraight.Thisalsohelpsdisperseclippings,
whichenhancesdecompositionandfertilization.
MowattheCorrectIntervals
Grassgrowsatdifferentratesatdifferenttimes.So
tomaintainthesamecuttingheight,mowmoreoften
inearlyspring.Asthegrassgrowthrateslowsin
midsummer,mowlessfrequently.Ifyoucannotmow
foranextendedperiod,rstmowatahighcutting
height;thenmowagain2dayslateratalowerheight
setting.
ChoosetheBestSpeed
Toimprovecutquality,useaslowergroundspeed
incertainconditions.
AvoidCuttingTooLow
Ifthecuttingwidthofthemoweriswiderthanthe
moweryoupreviouslyused,raisethecuttingheightto
ensurethatuneventurfisnotcuttooshort.
CuttingLongGrass
Ifthegrassiseverallowedtogrowslightlylongerthan
normal,orifitcontainsahighdegreeofmoisture,
raisethecuttingheighthigherthanusualandcutthe
grassatthissetting.Thencutthegrassagainusing
thelower,normalsetting.
StoppingtheMachine
Ifyoumuststoptheforwardmotionofthemachine
whilemowing,aclumpofgrassclippingsmaydrop
ontothelawn.T oavoidthis,moveontoapreviously
cutareawiththebladesengaged.
KeeptheUndersideoftheMower
Clean
Cleanclippingsanddirtfromtheundersideofthe
moweraftereachuse.Ifgrassanddirtbuildupinside
themower,thecuttingqualityeventuallybecomes
unsatisfactory.
MaintainingtheBlade
Maintainasharpbladethroughoutthecuttingseason,
becauseasharpbladecutscleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.T earingandshredding
turnsgrassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowth
andincreasesthechanceofdisease.Checkthe
cutterbladesdailyforsharpnessandforanywearor
damage.Filedownanynicksandsharpentheblades
asnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,replace
itimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacementblade.
