ServicingtheFuses
Theelectricalsystemisprotectedbyfuses.Itrequires
nomaintenance,however,ifafuseblowscheckthe
component/circuitforamalfunctionorshort.The
fusesarelocatedontheconsoletotherightofthe
seat(Figure69).
Toreplacethefuses,removethecover,pulloutonthe
fusetoremoveit,andinstallanewfuse.

Jump-StartingtheMachine
1.Checkandcleancorrosionfromthebattery
terminalsbeforejump-starting.Ensurethatthe
connectionsaretight.
CAUTION
Corrosionorlooseconnectionscan
causeunwantedelectricalvoltagespikes
atanytimeduringthejump-starting
procedure.
Donotattempttojump-startthemachine
withlooseorcorrodedbatteryterminals,
ordamagetotheengineorEFImay
occur.
DANGER
Jump-startingaweakbatterythatis
crackedorfrozenorhasalowelectrolyte
leveloranopen/shortedbatterycellcan
causeanexplosion,resultinginserious
personalinjury.
Donotjump-startaweakbatteryifthese
conditionsexist.
2.Makesurethattheboosterbatteryisagood
andfullychargedlead-acidbatteryat12.6Vor
greater.
Note:Useproperlysizedjumpercableswith
shortlengthstoreducevoltagedropbetween
systems.Makesurethatthecablesarecolor
codedorlabeledforthecorrectpolarity.
CAUTION
Connectingthejumpercablesincorrectly
(wrongpolarity)canimmediatelydamage
theEFIsystem.
Becertainofbattery-terminalpolarity
andjumper-cablepolaritywhenhooking
upthebatteries.
WARNING
Batteriescontainacidandproduce
explosivegases.
Shieldyoureyesandfacefromthe
batteriesatalltimes.
Donotleanoverthebatteries.
Note:Ensurethattheventcapsaretightand
level.Placeadampcloth,ifavailable,overany
