Improperlyusingormaintainingthemachinecanresult
ininjury.Toreducethepotentialforinjury,complywith
thesesafetyinstructionsandalwayspayattentiontothe
safetyalertsymbol,whichmeans
Caution, W ar ning ,
or
Danger
—personalsafetyinstruction.Failuretocomply
withtheinstructionmayresultinpersonalinjuryor
death.
SafeOperatingPractices
Thisproductiscapableofamputatinghandsandfeetand
throwingobjects.Alwaysfollowallsafetyinstructionsto
avoidseriousinjuryordeath.
Training
ReadtheOperator'sManualandothertraining
material.Iftheoperator(s)ormechanic(s)cannotreador
understandtheinformationitistheowner'sresponsibility
toexplainthismaterialtothem.
Becomefamiliarwiththecontrolsandtheproperuseof
theequipment.
Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwiththese
instructionstousethelawnmower.Localregulationscan
restricttheageoftheoperator.
Nevermowwhilepeople,especiallychildren,orpetsare
nearby.
Keepinmindthattheoperatororuserisresponsiblefor
accidentsorhazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheir
property.
Donotcarrypassengers.
Alldriversshouldseekandobtainprofessionaland
practicalinstruction.Suchinstructionshouldemphasize:
theneedforcareandconcentrationwhenworking
withride-onmachines;
controlofaride-onmachineslidingonaslopewill
notberegainedbytheapplicationofthecontrol
levers.Themainreasonsforlossofcontrolare:
insufcientwheelgrip,especiallyonwetgrass;
beingdriventoofast;
inadequatebraking;
thetypeofmachineisunsuitableforitstask;
lackofawarenessoftheeffectofground
conditions,especiallyslopes;
incorrecthitchingandloaddistribution.
Preparation
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheequipmentisto
beusedandremoveallobjectswhichmaybethrownby
themachine.
Replacewornordamagedsilencers.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethatthe
blades,bladebolts,andcutterassemblyarenotwornor
damaged.Replacewornordamagedbladesandboltsin
setstopreservebalance.
Onmulti-bladedmachines,takecareasrotatingoneblade
cancauseotherbladestorotate.
Operation
Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Iflightning
isseenorthunderisheardinthearea,donotoperate
themachine;seekshelter.
Bealert,slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturns.
Lookbehindandtothesidebeforechangingdirections.
Donotoperatetheengineinaconnedspacewhere
dangerouscarbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantial,slip-resistant
footwearandlongtrousers.Donotoperatethe
equipmentwhenbarefootorwearingopensandals.
Beforeattemptingtostarttheengine,disengageallblade
attachmentclutchesandshiftintoneutral.
Donotuseonslopesgreaterthan15degrees.
Rememberthatthereisnosuchthingasasafeslope.
Travelongrassslopesrequiresparticularcare.Toguard
againstoverturning:
Donotstoporstartsuddenlywhenonaslope;
Useslowspeedsonslopesandduringtightturns;
Stayalertforhumpsandhollowsandotherhidden
hazards.
Usecarewhenpullingloadsorusingheavyequipment.
Useonlyapproveddrawbarhitchpoints.
Limitloadstothoseyoucansafelycontrol.
Donotturnsharply.Usecarewhenreversing.
Watchoutfortrafcwhencrossingornearroadways.
Stopthebladesrotatingbeforecrossingsurfacesother
thangrass.
Whenusinganyattachments,neverdirectdischargeof
materialtowardbystandersnorallowanyonenearthe
machinewhileinoperation.
Neveroperatethemachinewithdamagedguardsor
withoutsafetyprotectivedevicesinplace.
Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeed
theengine.Operatingtheengineatexcessivespeedcan
increasethehazardofpersonalinjury.
Beforeleavingtheoperator'sposition:
Disengagethepowertake-offandlowerthe
attachments;
Changeintoneutralandsettheparkingbrake;
Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
