ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Makesuretheairgapbetweenthecenterandside
electrodesiscorrectbeforeinstallingthesparkplug.
Useasparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstalling
thesparkplug(s)andagappingtool/feelergaugeto
checkandadjusttheairgap.Installanewsparkplug(s)
ifnecessary.

RemovingtheSparkPlug
Important:Thefastenersonthecoversofthis
machinearedesignedtoremainonthecoverafter
removal.Loosenallofthefastenersoneachcovera
fewturnssothatthecoverisloosebutstillattached,
thengobackandloosenthemuntilthecover
comesfree.Thiswillpreventyoufromaccidentally
strippingtheboltsfreeoftheretainers.
1.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
2.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedpositionandsettheparking
brake.
3.Removethehydraulicunitshroudandthe2bolts
attachedtoit(
Figure53).Thisgivesyouaccessto
thefrontsparkplug.

replacethesparkplug(s)whenithas:ablack
coating,wornelectrodes,anoilylm,orcracks.
Ifyouseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,the
engineisoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingonthe
insulatorusuallymeanstheaircleanerisdirty.
Setthegapto0.030inches(0.76mm).
