WARNING

fuelvaporsevenafteryoushutofftheengine.
Hotparticlesexhaustedduringengine
operationmayigniteammablematerials.
Firemayresultinpersonalinjuryorproperty
damage.
Donotfuelorruntheengineunlessaspark
arresterisinstalled.
1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartsto
stop,removethekey,andengagetheparking
brake.
2.Waitforthemufertocool.
3.Ifthereareanybreaksinthescreenorwelds
areobserved,replacethearrester.
4.Ifthescreenisplugged,removethearrester
andshakelooseparticlesoutofthearrester,
andcleanthescreenwithawirebrush(soakin
solventifnecessary).
5.Installthearresterontheexhaustoutlet.

WARNING
Fuel-systemcomponentsareunderhigh
pressure.Theuseofimpropercomponents
canresultinsystemfailure,gasolineleakage,
andpossibleexplosion.
Useonlyapprovedfuellinesandfuellters.
ServicingtheElectronic
Fuel-InjectionSystem
Thismachinecontainsanelectronicfuel-injection
system.Itcontrolsthefuelowunderdifferent
operatingconditions.
Theelectronic-controlunit(ECU)continuously
monitorstheoperationoftheEFIsystem.
Ifaproblemorfaultwithinthesystemisdetected,the
malfunction-indicatorlight(MIL)illuminates.TheMIL
istheredlightlocatedintherightconsolepanel.
OncetheMILilluminates,makeinitialtroubleshooting
checks;refertotheMILsectionunderTroubleshooting
(page71).
Ifthesechecksdonotcorrecttheproblem,further
diagnosisandservicingbyanAuthorizedService
Dealerisnecessary.
Replacingthe
Low-PressureFuelFilter
ServiceInterval:Every200hours/Yearly(whichever
comesrst)
Thefuellterislocatedneartheengineonthefront
orrearsideoftheengine.
1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch(PTO),move
themotion-controlleverstotheNEUTRAL-LOCK
position,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Waitforthemachinetocooldown.
4.Closethefuel-shutoffvalveundertheseat
(Figure59).
