Important:Donotengagethestarterformore
than5secondsatatime.Engagingthestarter
motorformorethan5secondscandamagethe
startermotor.Iftheenginefailstostart,wait10
secondsbeforeoperatingtheenginestarteragain.
Sitdownontheseatandensurethattheparking
brakeisengaged(Figure17).

1.Disengagethebladesbypushingthe
blade-controlswitchtotheOFFposition(Figure
14).
2.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
3.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFpositionand
removethekey.
DrivingtheMachine
Thismachinehasthecharacteristicsofbothagarden
tractorandazero-turnmachine.Likeagarden
tractor,themachinehasafootpedalthatcontrolsthe
forwardandreversemotionalongwiththespeed,
andithasasteeringwheelthatcontrolsthedirection
andtheturningradius.Likeazero-turnmachine,
thereardrivewheelsoperateindependentlyofeach
other,enablingyoutomakesharpturnsandtoturn
indifferentdirectionsquickly.Thesecharacteristics
vastlyimprovethemaneuverabilityofthemachine,
buttheymayalsorequireyoutopracticedrivingifyou
areunfamiliarwiththistypeofmachine.
WARNING
Themachinecanspinveryrapidly.You
maylosecontrolofthemachineandcause
personalinjuryordamagetothemachine.
Usecautionwhenmakingturns.
Slowthemachinedownbeforemaking
sharpturns.
Thethrottlecontrolregulatestheenginespeedas
measuredinrpm(revolutionsperminute).Placing
thethrottlecontrolintheFASTpositioncanbebestfor
performance.Formostapplications,operatinginthe
FULL-THROTTLEpositionisdesirable.
DrivingForwardorBackward
1.MovethethrottletotheFASTposition.
2.Releasetheparkingbrake.
3.Placeyourfootontothetraction-controlpedal
andslowlypressthetopofthepedaltogo
forward,orpressonthebottomofthepedalto
movebackward(Figure18).
Note:Thefartheryoumovethepedalineither
direction,thefasterthemachinemovesinthat
direction.
