Note:Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.Fillthefuel
tanktothebottomofthellerneck.Theemptyspaceinthe
tankallowsthegasolinetoexpand.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelground.
2.Shuttheengineoffandsettheparkingbrake.
3.Cleanaroundthefueltankcap.
4.Fillthefueltanktothebottomofthellerneck.

CheckingtheEngineOilLevel
Beforeyoustarttheengineandusethemachine,
checktheoillevelintheenginecrankcase;referto
CheckingtheEngineOilLevel(page14).
BreakingInaNewMachine
Newenginestaketimetodevelopfullpower.Mowerdecks
anddrivesystemshavehigherfrictionwhennew,placing
additionalloadontheengine.Allow40to50hoursof
break-intimefornewmachinestodevelopfullpowerand
bestperformance.
ThinkSafetyFirst
Carefullyreadallofthesafetyinstructionsanddecalsinthe
safetysection.Knowingthisinformationcouldhelpyouor
anybystandersavoidinjury.
Theuseofprotectiveequipmentforeyes,hearing,feet,and
headisrecommended.
CAUTION
Thismachineproducessoundlevelsinexcessof
85dBAattheoperator'searandcancausehearing
lossthroughextendedperiodsofexposure.
Wearhearingprotectionwhenoperatingthis
machine.
OperatingtheParkingBrake
Alwayssettheparkingbrakewhenyoustopthemachineor
leaveitunattended.Beforeeachuse,checktheparkingbrake
forproperoperation.
Iftheparkingbrakedoesnotholdsecurely,adjustit.Referto
AdjustingtheBrakes(page45).
CAUTION
Childrenorbystandersmaybeinjuredifthey
attempttomoveoroperatethemachinewhileitis
unattended.
Alwaysremovetheignitionkeyandsettheparking
brakewhenleavingthemachineunattended,even
ifjustforafewminutes.
