BeltMaintenance
ReplacingtheMowerDeck
Belt
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthemower
deckbelt.
Squealingwhenthebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarksandcracks
aresignsofaworndeckbelt.Replacethedeckbeltif
anyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Unlatchandremovethebeltcovers.
4.Loosenthefrontidlerpulleybylooseningthenut.
5.Removethewornmowerbelt(
Figure65).
6.Installthenewmowerbeltaroundthedeckpulleys
andclutchpulley(
Figure65).
7.Usingaratchetintheidlerarm,tightentheidler
pulleyuntilthespringisstretched5-3/4inches(14.6
cm)fromhooktohook(Figure65).
8.Tightenthefrontidlerpulleybytighteningthenut.
9.Installthebeltcoversontothecuttingunitand
securethelatches.
