Mower Belt (Rear Discharge Mower Decks)
Replacing the Counter Rotating Belt
1. Park the machine on a level surface and disengage the PTO. Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop,
and remove the key. Engage the parking brake.
2. Disconnect the battery terminals.
3. Lower the mower deck to the 3 in. (76 mm) height-of-cut position.
4. Lift up the oor pan to gain access to the center pulley.
5. Remove the mower belt cover.
6. Remove the three bolts holding the metal belt cover in place and remove the metal belt cover.
7. Use a 3/8 in. ratchet in the square hole in the idler arm, turning counterclockwise to remove tension on the belt
(Figure 7).
8. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
9. Route the new belt around the pulleys.
10. Use a 3/8 in. ratchet in the square hole in the idler arm turning counterclockwise to remove tension on the belt.
11. Install the metal belt cover and the mower belt cover.
12. Connect the battery terminals and verify proper function of the unit.
