ThePTOclutchelectronicallycontrolstheengagementanddisengagement
ofthePTOpulley(deckbelt).
ThePTOclutchiscomposedofthreemajorcomponents:
•Field
•ClutchPlate
•FrictionPlate
Theclutchplatealwaysturnswiththeengine(crankshaft).Theeldisacoilof
wireonanironcorewhichbecomesanelectromagnetwhenpowerisapplied.
Thefrictionplateistheonlypiecethatmovesverticallyonthecrankshaft.Itis
normallyspringloadedsothatitisnotincontactwiththeclutchplateandis
pressedagainstthebrakematerialoppositetheclutchplate.Whenpoweris
applied,thefrictionplateispulledtowardtheclutchplateandthetworotateas
one.Whentheclutchplateandthefrictionplaterotateasdifferentspeedsit
isknownasclutchslipping.
ElectricPTOClutchRemoval
1.ParkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengagethePTO.Stopthe
engine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,andremovethekey.
2.Disconnectthebatterybyremovingthenegativecablerst,thenthepositive
cablefromthebattery.
3.Raiseandsupporttheunitsothatthedrivewheelsareofftheground.
4.Removethemowerbelt.MowerBeltReplacement(page6–6)
5.Disconnecttheclutchwireconnectorfromtheclutch.
