InspectingtheBelts
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Inspectallbelts
forcracksandwear.
Checkbeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarksorany
otherdamage.Replacedamagedbelts.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Thesignsofawornmowerbeltaresquealingwhilethe
beltisrotating,bladesslippingwhileyouarecutting
grass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarks,andcracks.Replace
themowerbeltifyoudetectanyofthesesigns.
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedposition,andsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Remove2boltsandwashersineachbeltcoverand
removethebeltcoversovertheoutsidespindles
(Figure44).
4.Pullontheidlerarmtorelievethebelttensionon
theleftspindlepulley(Figure42orFigure43).
5.Removetheoldbelt.
6.Installthenewbeltaroundthepulleys(Figure42
orFigure43).
7.Installthebeltontothespringloadedidlerpulley.
