ChargingtheBattery
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthat
canexplode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparks
andamesawayfromthebattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged
(1.265specicgravity).Thisisespecially
importanttopreventbatterydamagewhenthe
temperatureisbelow0°C(32°F).
1.Removethebatteryfromthechassis;referto
RemovingtheBattery(page40).
2.Chargethebatteryfor10to15minutesat25to
30Aorfor30minutesat10A.
Note:Donotoverchargethebattery.
3.Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplug
thechargerfromtheelectricaloutlet,then
disconnectthechargerleadsfromthebattery
posts(Figure44).
4.Installthebatteryinthemachineandconnect
thebatterycables;refertoInstallingtheBattery
(page41).
Note:Donotrunthemachinewiththebattery
disconnected;electricaldamagemayoccur.

1.Positionthebatteryinthetraywiththeterminal
postsoppositefromthehydraulictank(Figure
43).
2.Installthepositive(red)batterycabletothe
positive(+)batteryterminal.
3.Installthenegative(black)batterycableand
groundwiretothenegative(-)batteryterminal.
4.Securethecableswith2bolts,2washers,and
2locknuts(Figure43).
5.Slidetheredterminalbootontothepositive
(red)batterypost.
6.Installtheclampandsecureitwiththewingnuts
andJ-hooks(Figure43).
ServicingtheFuses
Theelectricalsystemisprotectedbyfuses.Itrequires
nomaintenance;however,ifafuseblowscheckthe
component/circuitforamalfunctionorshort.
1.Thefusesarelocatedonrightsidebehindthe
seat.
2.Toreplacethefuses,pulloutonthefuseto
removeit.
3.Installanewfuse.
