Cleaning the Cooling System
Clean the cooling system daily before eac h use .
1. P osition the mac hine on a lev el surface , stop
the engine , and set the parking brak e .
Important: Bef or e star ting the engine,
clean g rass fr om the pump dri v e belt
compar tment. Check mor e often in dr y
conditions.
2. Unlatc h the seat, tilt the seat up and raise the
r ubber flap abo v e the dri v e belt compar tment.
3. R emo v e debris from the dri v e belt
compar tment and h y draulic pumps .
4. R emo v e debris from the screen on the engine
co v er .
5. Tilt the engine co v er forw ard.
6. R emo v e debris from the radiator core and
engine .
Important: Do not dama ge the radiator
cooling fins.
7. Inspect the seals on the engine co v er and
re place them if needed.
8. Close the engine co v er and tilt the seat bac k.
Changing the Engine Coolant
Chang e the engine coolant ev er y 2 years .
Contact an A uthorized Ser vice Dealer for c hanging
the coolant.
Brake Maintenance
Adjusting the Parking Brake
1. Diseng ag e the brak e lev er (lev er do wn).
2. Measure the length of the spring . T he
measurement should be 2-3/4 inc h (70 mm)
betw een the w ashers ( Figure 53 ).
3. If an adjustment is necessar y , loosen the jam
n ut belo w the spring and tighten the n ut
directly belo w the y ok e ( Figure 53 ). T ur n the
n ut until the cor rect measurement is obtained.
Tighten the tw o n uts tog ether and re peat on
the opposite side of the unit.
4. T ur n the n uts cloc kwise to shor ten the spring
length and countercloc kwise to lengthen the
spring .
5. Eng ag e the parking brak e , lev er up .
6. Measure the distance betw een the spring
brac k et and the adjusting n ut under spring
brac k et. T he measurement should be
1/4-5/16 inc h (5-8 mm) ( Figure 53 ).
7. If an adjustment is necessar y , loosen the jam
n ut directly abo v e the tr union roller . T ur n
the loc k n ut belo w the tr union roller until the
cor rect measurement is obtained ( Figure 53 ).
8. Tighten the jam n ut directly abo v e the tr union
roller ( Figure 53 ).
Note: If the 1/4-5/16 inc h (5-8 mm) can not
be ac hiev ed, remo v e a pin from either y ok e at
the ends of the brak e rod. Adjust the length
of the rod so 1/4-5/16 inc h (5-8 mm) can be
ac hiev ed and install the brak e rod.
