ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.Tearingandshreddingturns
grassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowthand
increasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,
replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacement
blade.Forconvenientsharpeningandreplacement,you
maywanttokeepextrabladesonhand.
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,anda
pieceofthebladecouldbethrownintothe
operator’sorbystander’sarea,resultingin
seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
bladecontrol(PTO),andsettheparkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytoOffandremovethekey.
3.Disconnectthesparkplugwire(s)fromthespark
plug(s).
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure84).
Iftheedgesarenotsharporhavenicks,removeand
sharpentheblades.RefertoSharpeningtheBlades.
