BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagetheblade
control(PTO),andsettheparkingbrake.Turntheignition
keytotheOffposition.Removethekey.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure87).Iftheedges
arenotsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpenthe
blades.RefertoSharpeningtheBlades(page62).
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea(Figure
87).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslotforming
inthisarea(Figure87),immediatelyinstallanewblade.

CheckingforBentBlades
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrolleversto
theneutrallockedposition,andsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforwardand
backward(Figure88).Measurefromalevelsurfaceto
thecuttingedge,positionA,oftheblades(Figure88).

Thedifferencebetweenthedimensionsobtainedin
steps3and4mustnotexceed3mm(1/8inch).Ifthis

andmustbereplaced;refertoRemovingtheBlades
(page61)andInstallingtheBlades(page62).
WARNING
Abladethatisbentordamagedcouldbreak
apartandcouldseriouslyinjureorkillyouor
bystanders.
Alwaysreplacebentordamagedblade
withanewblade.
Neverleorcreatesharpnotchesinthe
edgesorsurfacesofblade.
RemovingtheBlades
Bladesmustbereplacedifasolidobjectishit,ifthebladeis
outofbalanceorisbent.Toensureoptimumperformance
andcontinuedsafetyconformanceofthemachine,use
genuineTororeplacementblades.Replacementbladesmade
byothermanufacturersmayresultinnon-conformancewith
safetystandards.
WARNING
Contactwithasharpbladecancauseseriousinjury.
Wearglovesorwrapsharpedgesofthebladewith
arag.
1.Holdthebladeendusingaragorthickpaddedglove.
2.Removethebladebolt,curvedwasher,andbladefrom
thespindleshaft(Figure91).
