CAUTION
Ifyouleavethekeyintheswitch,someonecouldaccidentlystarttheengineandseriously
injureyouorotherbystanders.
Shutofftheengineandremovethekeyfromtheswitchbeforeyouperformanymaintenance.

ReleasingtheMower-Deck
Curtain
Removethecotterpintoreleasethemower-deck
curtainandgetaccesstothetopofthemowerdeck.
Afterperformingmaintenance,installthecurtainusing
thepreviouslyremovedcotterpin.
RemovingtheSheet-Metal
Guard
Loosenthe2frontboltsandremovethesheet-metal
guardtoaccessthemowerbeltsandspindles
(Figure38).Afterperformingmaintenance,installthe
sheet-metalguardandtightenthebolts.

GreaseType:No.2lithiumormolybdenumgrease
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch,andengagetheparking
brake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Cleanthegreasettingswitharag.
Note:Scrapeanypaintoffthefrontofthe
tting(s).
4.Connectagreaseguntothetting.
5.Pumpgreaseintothettingsuntilgreasebegins
tooozeoutofthebearings.
6.Wipeupanyexcessgrease.
