Battery Symbols
Some or all of these symbols are on your battery.
1. Explosion hazard
2. No fire, open flames, or
smoking.
3. Caustic liquid/chemical
burn hazard
4. Wear eye protection;
explosive gases can
cause blindness and other
injuries
5. Wear eye protection
6. Read the Operators
Manual.
7. Keep bystanders a safe
distance from the battery.
8. Battery acid can cause
blindness or severe burns.
9. Flush eyes immediately
with water and get medical
help fast.
10. Contains lead; do not
discard.
Check Before
Operating
Each time before operating your tractor, check the
following:
Fuel level
Engine oil level
Debris on the air-intake screens
Debris in the engine area
Debris on the rear transaxle cover
The safety interlock system
The brake
Some of these steps will require that you open the hood or
remove the side panels on the tractor.
Opening the Hood
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the
power take off (PTO), set the parking brake, lower the
attachment lift, stop the engine, and remove the
ignition key.
2. Push the hood latch to the left (Fig. 2).

3. Raise the hood to full height.
Components under the hood will be hot if the
tractor has been running. If you touch hot
components you may be burned.
Allow the tractor to cool before performing
maintenance or touching components under the
hood.
Caution
Closing the Hood
The hood catch is located at the left hand corner of the
grill.
1. Press rearward on the hood catch as you begin to lower
the hood.
2. Push the hood down until the latch closes.

Removing the Side Panels
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the
PTO, set the parking brake, lower the attachment lift,
stop the engine, and remove the ignition key.
