DUAL ACTION BRAKE BAND ADJUSTMENT
ADJUSTMENTS
GENERAL
Brake drum
is
mounted on first intermediate gear
shaft, which extends through a needle bearing and
seal in left transaxle case half. Brake band
is
applied
by rods connected to Brake/Return to Neutral pedal.
Brake
is
applied only after transmission
is
returned
to neutral, and
is
used to keep tractor from rolling
after it has been stopped. Brake also serves as trac-
tor's parking brake.
SINGLE ACTION BRAKE BAND ADJUSTMENT
To adjust brake band, depress brake pedal and set
parking
broke
lever
so
it latches in first notch of return-
to-neutral cam plate. Turn brake drum mounting bolt
clockwise with a torque wrench. Drum should turn
when
30-35
ft.
Ibs.
is
applied to bolt.
Use
adjustment
nut to increase or decrease tension as required.
DO
NOT OVERTORQUE.

To adjust brake band, depress brake pedal and
set parking brake
so
it latches in first notch of cam
plate. Tighten adjustment nut and compress spring
all the way. Back nut off

turn. Brake band should
not drag on drum when released.

mately

provided in tractor's rear fender for access to the
motion control friction adjustment Tighten or loosen
adjustment nut as required.
