CoolingSystemSafety
Swallowingenginecoolantcancausepoisoning;
keepoutofreachfromchildrenandpets.
Dischargeofhot,pressurizedcoolantortouching
ahotradiatorandsurroundingpartscancause
severeburns.
Alwaysallowtheenginetocoolatleast15
minutesbeforeremovingtheradiatorcap.
Usearagwhenopeningtheradiatorcap,and
openthecapslowlytoallowsteamtoescape.

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Coolantspecication:50/50solutionofwaterand
permanentethylene-glycolantifreeze
Cooling-systemcapacity:7.6L(8USqt)
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch,andengagetheparking
brake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Openthehood.
4.Checkthelevelofthecoolantintheexpansion
tank(Figure56).
Note:Thecoolantlevelshouldbebetweenthe
marksonthesideofthetank.

CleaningtheRadiator
ServiceInterval:Every50hours—Cleanthe
engine-coolingsystem(moreoften
indirtyanddustyconditions).
Cleantheradiatortopreventtheenginefrom
overheating.
Note:Ifthemowerdeckorengineshutsoffdueto
overheating,checktheradiatorforexcessivebuildup
ofdebris.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch,andengagetheparking
brake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Rotatethehoodforward.
4.Usingcompressedair,blowoutdebrisstuck
betweenthensoftheentireradiator,bothfrom
thetopdownandbottomup.
5.Ifdebrisremains,itmaybenecessarytouse
waterfromalow-pressurehose.
Iftheradiatorisclean,proceedtostep7.
6.Covertheenginewithapieceofcardboardor
aplasticsheet.Squirtwaterthroughthens.
Blowthroughwithlow-pressureairfromboth
directions.
