13.Carrythepolesawwithbothhands,thepole
sawswitchedoffandawayfromyourbody.
Whentransportingorstoringthepolesaw,
alwaysttheguidebarcover.Properhandling
ofthepolesawwillreducethelikelihoodof
accidentalcontactwiththemovingsawchain.
14.Followinstructionsforlubricating,chain
tensioning,changingthebarandchain.
Improperlytensionedorlubricatedchainmay
eitherbreakorincreasethechanceforkickback.
15.Cutwoodonly.Donotusepolesawfor
purposesnotintended.Forexample:do
notusepolesawforcuttingmetal,plastic,
masonryornon-woodbuildingmaterials.
Useofthepolesawforoperationsdifferentthan
intendedcouldresultinahazardoussituation.
16.Keephandlesdry,clean,andfreefromoil
andgrease.Greasy,oilyhandlesareslippery
causinglossofcontrol.
17.Avoidkickback.Kickbackmayoccurwhenthe
noseortipoftheguidebartouchesanobject,or
whenthewoodclosesinandpinchesthesaw
chaininthecut.
Tipcontactinsomecasesmaycauseasudden
reversereaction,kickingtheguidebarupand
backtowardyou.
Pinchingthesawchainalongthetopofthe
guidebarmaypushtheguidebarrapidlyback
towardyou.
Eitherofthesereactionsmaycauseyoutolose
controlofthesaw,whichcouldresultinserious
personalinjury.Donotrelyexclusivelyuponthe
safetydevicesbuiltintoyoursaw.Asapolesaw
user,youshouldtakeseveralstepstokeepyour
cuttingjobsfreefromaccidentorinjury.
Kickbackistheresultoftoolmisuseand/or
incorrectoperatingproceduresorconditionsand
canbeavoidedbytakingproperprecautionsas
givenbelow:
18.Maintainarmgrip,withthumbsandngers
encirclingthepolesawhandles,withboth
handsonthehandleandpositionyourbody
andarmtoallowyoutoresistkickback
forces.Kickbackforcescanbecontrolledby
theoperator,ifproperprecautionsaretaken.Do
notletgoofthepolesaw.
19.Whenclearingjammedmaterial,storingor
servicingthepole-mountedpruner,make
suretheswitchisoffandthebatterypackis
removed.Unexpectedactuationofthemachine
whileclearingjammedmaterialorservicingmay
resultinseriouspersonalinjury.
20.Onlyusereplacementbarsandchains
speciedbythemanufacturer.Incorrect
replacementbarsandchainsmaycausechain
breakageand/orkickback.
21.Followthemanufacturerssharpeningand
maintenanceinstructionsforthesawchain.
Decreasingthedepthgaugeheightcanleadto
increasedkickback..
