The EHi steering valve assembly includes the PVED
CLS controller to operate the EHi steering valve. The
PVEDCLS controller has steering specific functions
and dedicated safety functions which are programed
specifically for the Multi Pro 5800 through the controller
firmware. The PVEDCLS includes two separate con-
trollers (Main and Safety), creating a failsafe redun-
dancy feature which constantly crosschecks system
data. The Main and Safety controllers inside the PVED
CLS are connected to the machine CAN bus via two
separate sets of CAN bus connections. Refer to the wire
harness drawings and diagrams in Appendix A in this
manual for additional information.
Communication (firmware uploads and calibration) with
the PVEDCLS controller is accomplished using a per-
sonal computer (PC) running Danfoss PLUS+1R Ser-
vice Tool software and the vehicle’s CAN network.
Contact an Authorized Toro Distributor for assistance.
Because of the solid state circuitry built into the PVED
CLS controller, there is no method to test the controller
directly. The controller may be damaged if an attempt is
made to test it with an electrical test device (e.g. digital
multimeter or test light). Only the Tricolored LED on the
PVEDCLS controller and any “AUTOSTEER” fault
codes that appear on the InfoCenter display should be
used to troubleshoot controller operation issues
(Fig. 59). Refer to AutoSteer Faults in the Trou-
bleshooting section in this Chapter.
Only the seals and particle filter located between the
PVEDCLS controller and the EHi steering valve body
can be serviced. The PVEDCLS controller is not ser-
viceable separately. The entire EHi steering valve and
PVEDCLS controller must be replaced as an assem-
bly. Refer to Electrohydraulic Inline (EHi) Steering
Valve (Optional AutoSteer Kit) in Chapter 5 Hydraulic
System in this manual for additional information.
