Ignition Switch
The instrument panel mounted ignition (key) switch has
three (3) positions (OFF, ON/PREHEAT and START).
The ignition switch START circuit is an input for the Toro
Electronic Controller (TEC).
Testing
The ignition switch and its circuit wiring can be tested as
a TEC input using the InfoCenter Display (see InfoCen-
ter Display Diagnostics Screen in this chapter). If test-
ing determines that the switch and circuit wiring are not
functioning correctly, proceed with the following test pro-
cedure:
1. Park machine on a level surface, stop engine and en-
gage parking brake.
2. Locate the switch to be tested and disconnect wire
harness electrical connector from the switch.
3. With the use of a multimeter (ohms setting), the
switch functions may be tested to determine wh ether
continuity exists between the various terminals for each
switch position. The ignition switch terminals are
marked as shown (Fig, 62) and the circuitry of this switch
is shown in the chart (Fig. 60). Verify continuity between
switch terminals.

4. Replace ignition switch if necessary.
5. If switch tests correctly and circuit problem still ex-
ists, check wire harness (see Electrical Schematic and
Circuit Drawings in Appendix A Foldout Drawings).
6. When testing is complete, connect wire harness
electrical connector to the ignition switch.
