CheckingtheCoolantLevel
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Thecoolingsystemislledwitha50/50solutionof
waterandpermanentethyleneglycolantifreeze.Check
thelevelofcoolantintheradiatorandtheexpansion
tankatthebeginningofeachdaybeforestartingthe
engine.Thecoolingsystemcapacityis5.5qt(5.4l).
Iftheenginehasbeenrunning,thecoolantmay
behotandpressurized.Ifyouopentheradiator
capwhenthecoolantishot,itcouldsprayout
andseverelyburnyouorbystanders.
Allowtheenginetocoolforatleast15minutes
beforeopeningtheradiatorcap.
1.Positionthesprayeronalevelsurface.
2.Settheparkingbrake,stopthepump,stopthe
engine,andremovetheignitionkey.
3.Carefullyremovetheradiatorcapandtheexpansion
tankcap(Figure53).

4.Checkthecoolantlevelintheradiatorandinthe
expansiontank.
Note:Theradiatorshouldbelledtothetopof
thellerneckandtheexpansiontanklledtothe
Fullmark.
5.Ifcoolantlevelislow,removetheexpansiontank
capandtheradiatorcap,andllexpansiontankto
theFullmarkandtheradiatortothetopoftheller
neck.Donotoverlltheexpansiontank.
Important:Donotusewateronlyoran
alcohol/methanol-basedcoolant.
6.Installtheradiatorcapandtheexpansiontankcap.

Every400hours/Yearly(whichever
comesrst)
Cleantheradiatornsofalldebrisusinglow-pressure
compressedairorasoftbrush.Cleanthemmoreoften
ifneeded.Alsocheckallcoolanthosesandreplaceany
thatareworn,leaking,ordamaged.
Important:Donotspraywaterintoahotengine
compartment.
Important:Donotaddcoolanttoanoverheated
engineuntiltheenginehasfullycooled.Adding
coolanttoanoverheatedenginemaycrackthe
engineblock.
Checktheenginecoolantasdirectedbythe
manufacturer.Use5.8qt(5.4l)ofasolutionof50%
waterand50%permanentethyleneglycolantifreeze.
1.Positionthesprayeronalevelsurface,settheparking
brake,stopthepump,stoptheengine,andremove
theignitionkey.
Iftheenginehasbeenrunning,thecoolantmay
behotandpressurized.Ifyouopentheradiator
capwhenthecoolantishot,itcouldsprayout
andseverelyburnyouorbystanders.
Allowtheenginetocoolforatleast15minutes
beforeopeningtheradiatorcap.Theradiator
capmustbecooltothetouch.
