Undercertainconditions,fuelandfuelvapors
arehighlyammableandexplosive.Areor
explosionfromfuelcanburnyouandothers
andcancausepropertydamage.
Useafunnelandllthetankoutdoors,in
anopenarea,whentheengineisoffandis
cold.Wipeupanyspilledfuel.
Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.
Addfueltothefueltankuntilthelevelis25
mm(1inch)belowthebottomoftheller
neck.Thisemptyspaceinthetankallows
thefueltoexpand.
Neversmokewhenhandlingfuel,andstay
awayfromanopenameorwherefuel
fumesmaybeignitedbyaspark.
Storefuelinaclean,safety-approvedfuel
containerandkeepthecapinplace.

Inspectthelinesandttingsfordeterioration,damage,
orlooseconnections.
Note:Ifyoundanyfuelleaks,repairthefuel
component(s)beforeoperatingthemachine.
BleedingtheFuelSystem
Usethisprocedureafteryouhaveservicedthefuel
lterorrantheengineoutoffuel,andtheenginedoes
notstart.
1.Ensurethatyouhave1/2tankoffuelinthefuel
tank.
2.Insertthekeyintothestarterswitchandrotateit
totheONposition.
3.RotatethekeytotheOFFposition.
4.Attempttostarttheengine.
5.Iftheenginedoesnotstart,repeatsteps2and
3severaltimesandthenattempttostartthe
engine.
Note:Repeatstep5untiltheenginestarts.

RemovingtheFuelPumpCover
1.Engagetheparkingbrake,stopthespraypump,
stoptheengine,andremovethekey.
2.Atthefueltank,removethe4screws(#10x3/4
inch)thatsecurethecovertothetopofthefuel
tank,andremovethecover(Figure83).
