3. Mo v e the pump until the belt flex es 1/4 inc h (5
mm) with 5 lb . of force (22 N) then tighten the
mounting bolts , star ting with the bolt closest
to the engine crankshaft.

Checking the
Transaxle/Hydraulic Fluid
1. P osition the spra yer on a lev el surface , set the
parking brak e , stop the pump , stop the engine ,
and remo v e the ignition k ey .
2. R emo v e the transaxle dipstic k and wipe it with
a clean rag ( Figure 67 ).

Important: Be v er y car eful not to get
dir t or other contaminants into the opening
when checking the transmission oil.
3. Inser t the dipstic k into the tube and mak e
sure it is seated fully . R emo v e the dipstic k and
c hec k the oil lev el.
4. T he transaxle fluid lev el should be at the top of
the flat por tion of the dipstic k. If it is not, fill
the reser v oir with the appropriate fluid; refer
to Changing the T ransaxle/Hy draulic Fluid.
5. Install the dipstic k fir mly in place .

Chang e transaxle/h y draulic fluid, filter and clean
strainer ev er y 800 hours .

2. Place a drain pan under the drain plug of the
reser v oir .
3. R emo v e the drain plug from the side of the
reser v oir and let the h y draulic fluid flo w into
the drain pan ( Figure 68 ).
