StartingtheEngine
1.Connectthewirestothesparkplugs.
2.Openthefuelvalve.
3.Disengagetheblade-control(PTO)leverandmovethe
shiftlevertotheneutralposition.
4.Settheparkingbrakes.
5.Turntheignitionkeytotherunposition(
Figure8).
6.Tostartacoldengine,movethethrottlecontrol
midwaybetweenthefastandslowpositions.
7.Tostartawarmengine,movethethrottlecontrolto
thefastposition.
8.Pullthechokeknobiftheengineiscold(Figure8).
Note:Awarmorhotengineusuallydoesnotrequire
anychoking.
9.Grasptherecoil-starthandlermlyandpullitout
untilpositiveengagementresults;thenpullthehandle
vigorouslytostarttheengine.Allowtheropetorecoil
slowly.
Important:Donotpulltherecoilropetoitslimit
orreleasethestarterhandlewhenyoupullout
theropebecausetheropemaybreakortherecoil
assemblymaybedamaged.
10.Pushthechoketotheoffpositionastheenginewarms
up.
11.Iftheengineiscold,allowittowarmupandthen
movethethrottlecontroltothefastposition.
StoppingtheEngine
Important:Inanemergency,youcanstoptheengine
immediatelybyturningtheignitionkeytothe
of f
position.
1.Movethethrottlelevertotheslowposition(Figure8).
Note:Iftheenginehasbeenworkinghardorishot,
letitidleforaminutebeforestoppingittohelpcoolit.
2.Turntheignitionkeytotheoffposition.
3.Settheparkingbrakesandremovethekey.
4.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugtoprevent
someonefromaccidentallystartingthemachinewhile
transportingorstoringit.
5.Closethefuel-shutoffvalvebeforetransportingor
storingthemachine.
Important:Closethefuel-shutoffvalvebefore
transportingorthestoringthemachine,toprevent
fuelleakage.
