8.
Slide the wheels inward and install the axle pin
through the holes in the wheel hub and through the
inner
hole of the axle (Fig. 4).

Note: If
your snowthrower has the optional tire chains,
install the axle pin through the
outer
axle holes.
Installing
the Speed Selector
Rod
1. Pull
the speed selector arm (Fig. 5) to the most
outward position.
2.
Move the speed selector (Fig. 6) on the control panel
to the R (reverse) position.
3.
Install the speed selector rod into the selector arm, add
one flat washer on the selector rod, and secure it with a
cotter pin (Fig. 5).

Installing
the T
raction Rod
1. Thread
the locking flange nut (flange side up) onto the
bottom of the traction control rod, below the loop in
the lower traction rod (Fig. 3).
2.
Adjust the two flange nuts up or down on the traction
control rod until the distance between the top of the
handgrip and the bottom of the traction control lever
(Figs. 6 and 7) is approximately 4
#/8
in. (1
1 cm).

the two flange nuts finger tight.
4.
Move the speed selector (Fig. 6) into third gear
.
Note: If
the speed selector does not move into third gear
,
adjust the speed selector before continuing. Refer to
Adjusting the Speed Selector
on page 21.
5.
Slowly pull the snowthrower backward while slowly
pressing the traction control lever toward the handle.
The adjustment is correct when the wheels stop rolling
backwards and the distance between the top of the
handgrip and the bottom of the traction control lever is
one to two inches (2.5 to 5 cm) (Fig. 7).
6.
Adjust the two flange nuts, if necessary
, to obtain this
dimension.

ighten the flange nuts securely
