BladeSafety
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapieceof
thebladecouldbethrowntowardyouorbystanders,
resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearordamage.
Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Wrapthe
bladesorweargloves,andusecautionwhen
servicingtheblades.Onlyreplaceorsharpenthe
blades;neverstraightenorweldthem.
Onmulti-bladedmachines,takecareasrotating1
bladecancauseotherbladestorotate.
CheckingforaBentBlade
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,inspectthemachine
fordamageandmakerepairsbeforestarting
andoperatingtheequipment.T orqueallofthe
spindle-pulleynutsto176to203N∙m(130to150
ft-lb).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,raisethe
cuttingunittotheTRANSPORTposition,engage
theparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,and
removethekey.
2.RaisethecuttingunittotheSERVICEposition;
refertoyourtractionunitOperator’sManual.
3.Rotatethebladeuntiltheendsfaceforwardand
backwardandmeasurefromtheinsideofthe
cuttingunittothecuttingedgeatthefrontofthe
blade(Figure24).
