RemovingtheAlternator
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdecks,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Liftandsupportthehoodtogetaccesstotheengine.
3.Removethebatteryaccesspanel;refertoRemovingandInstallingthe
Battery(page5–103).
4.Disconnectthenegativebatterycable.
5.Disconnectthepositivebatterycable.
6.Loosentheange-headscrew(items5inFigure23)thatsecuresthe
alternatortotheadjustingbracket.
7.Rotatethealternatortowardtheenginetoloosenthedrivebelt,andremove
thebeltfromthealternatorpulley.
8.Examinethedrivebeltforglazingordamage.
